Cheerleader routines and cheerleading stunts
Cheerleading has come along way since the 1800s where girls would stand to the sides and shout for their team rooting them along and waving banners. Today the cheerleaders root for their teams with rhythm and style by performing complex cheerleader routines and cheerleading stunts for the team and the fans alike.
With custom designed uniforms, full and bright pom poms and a well choreographed routine the cheerleading squad sets out to entertain the crowd during the game, during half time and in competition. The cheerleading squad uses many stunts and routines that will usually and hopefully lead them to competition where they can perform for scholarships, recognition and prizes.
One routine that is a sure attention getter for the games played at night is the Torchlight Parade. In this routine the stadium lights are turned off and the cheerleading squad performs a routine with torch-lights making for a spectacular scene and show. General exhibitions that include tumbling and a trampoline exhibition is also a crowd pleaser with the opportunity for complex stunts. Dance routines set to popular music is often a favorite of the cheerleading squad as it is closest to what they might do in a competition and provides them with real time practice.
Cheerleading routines and stunts are commonly used in high school and in college as well as with the professional cheerleading teams. The teams practice hard to perfect their moves, their coordination and rhythm as they move as a squad with perfect timing and accurate stunts.
Naturally there are set regulations and boundaries that must be kept in the competition and these are often designed to help keep the cheerleader safe and from attempting stunts that are dangerous and could result in a serious injury.
Every cheerleader, whether out on the field or up on the stage during competition has dedicated this time in his or her life for perfection and the teams perform exciting routines that all enjoy. Some routines are serious and complex, others try to maintain the complexity and technique while adding a humorous gait to the routine.
